Fished the Mississippi Sound today under rough conditions. However, my clients eeked out 35 nice white trout and ground mullet, as well as a nice tripletail, our first of the season. Saw another fish today, but he was spooky. Check out the pic at www.flickr.com under teambrodiecharters. Regards, Capt. Robert L. Been running back to back trips since mid-March so Capt. Brian has not had time to post reports and pics but will as soon as he gets a break. The pattern has been consistent to date: blowing winds = slow catches but calm winds = great catches. Some beautiful specks have been caught so far this year. The reds are there as always and the flounder have started to show up.

Yesterday I had the pleasure to fish with local businessmen Dalton McGuire (Builder), Eric Brown (Banker),Mark Orgler (Lawyer), and John Baxter (Banker). Made a day of it at the white trout reefs, and these guys fished really hard to catch plenty of fish. The bite was extremely slow during the first part of the outing, but when the bite turned on these guys hammered the nice sand sea trout a.k.a. "white trout" and southern kingfish a.k.a. "ground mullet". Matter a fact, they boated 150 of the tasty ones, and a couple of specks. This trip was a lot of fun, and we laughed all day as each had something funny to tell. Plenty of fish and lots of laugh on a beautiful day on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Don't forget, I do Louisiana marsh fishing trips too! Life is good...let's fish! Regards, Capt. Robert L. They extended shrimp season for about 2 more weeks. We made a few drags with the little trawl on my inlaws boat and had a fair number of nice sized croakers. Most of the shrimp are what they call "hoppers" and are really a bit big for bait. Maybe half are usable. However, if you run out of Long Beach or Pass Christian early in the morning, you may be able to catch one of te smaller boats selling live bait. After the brown shrimp show up they will close the season until it open for the summer.

Today I fished with one of my regular clients John Noel of Jackson, MS. Started to fish the Louisiana marsh, but decided to keep this trip close to home. About 2-minutes from the boat ramp John was pulling in black drum, and managed to stock up the back live well with 9 "puppy" drum. Stoped at the L&S Train Bridge for a few minutes...no luck. Then hit the Ocean Springd Reef outside the Ocean Springs Harbor Channel, and caught a few white trout and ground mullet. Winds started to lay, so we hooked up the 2170 Blazer Bay and ran to the old Bellefontaine Oyster Reef. There, John got into the action, and ended up with 45 sand sea trout aka "white trout" and southern kingfish aka "ground mullet". The sharks and big gafftopsail catfish are starting to show up on the reefs too. They are a nuisance to the local angler, but charter clients, especially children enjoy catching them, especially the small sharks. Bottom line, caught a nice mess of fish, and did so with clear shies and calm seas, a beautiful day to be on the water here in south Mississippi. Looking for a LOUISIAMA MARSH FISHING TRIP? We run those here at TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS too! Regards, Capt. Robert L. Fished the Back Bay of Biloxi today with 3 great clients, Jay Mayfield, Bryan Thornton, and Doug Ayers. Although it was blowing nearly 25-knots with poor tidal conditions these guys stuck it out and caught a box full of fish. Since we were limited to the bay structure fishing was the plan, and these guys fished hard boating 14 black drum, 2 flounders, a nice redfish, and a big sheepshead. Looks like a nice day on Sunday with north winds at 5-knots, ideal fishing conditions. PS: Really enjoyinf fishing out of the new 2170 Blazer Bay, and my clients speak highly of it too. We are still playing run from the wind and it seems to want to keep blowing. Sure seems like more cold fronts coming through than in the past? Been at Chandeleur when the winds allow and in the marsh when it is blowing. Catches have been good although I think the spillway opening has now affected the marsh a bit - but did see that they have now begun closing the gates and should have them completely closed in mid-May. Specks have been good size and the reds are still cooperating. On another note, Chandeleur appears to be building back and moving a bit to the west. Alot of the cuts from Katrina are filling in and the grass beds appear to be in good shape.

Yes the fish are here...we tend to get near a limit every time now with artificial. HOWEVER...BE CAREFUL...there was a LOT of debris out in the sounds around the marsh (Door Point/Brush/Everywhere). We hit something pretty big that was submerged. There were trees and everything floating around now that the spillway is open. Fishing is great..but exercise caution..especially in choppy seas where the debris can be hidden or in low light conditions.

LOUISIANA MARSH ON FIRE! Tuesday-April 22, 2008 Went to the Louisiana marsh today and hammered the big speckled trout and redfish. Easily caught our Louisiana 3-man limit of big specks (75), four redfish 18 to 24-inches, and all of the 15 to 25-pound bull redfish we could stand. It was an amazing morning, and we left the fish biting! Our "honey hole" is grass beds that's full of silversides in the spawning mode, and when this occurs reds and specks know where an easy feast can be found. For pictures go to my web site at www.teambrodie charters, com and my picture portfolio at www.flickr.com and type in teambrodiecharters in the search button. Bottom line, a magnificent day in the Louisiana marsh with a nosstop bite of hefty speckled trout and bull redfish. What a day! By the way, I am fully licensed to run these Louisiana marsh fishing trips, so keep that in mind. Also, the white trout and ground mullet bite is still good in the Mississippi Sound, and makes great quick trips, and provides excellent family fun. So just don't sit there...let's FISH! This weekend was a blessing, calm seas and clear skies, something that Mississippi fishermen hasn't seen in a while. However this weekend was magnificent, and in the new 2170 Blazer Bay my two weekend trips went great. On Saturday my clients Greg Pittman and his son Marcus hammered the white trout and ground mullet. On a late afternoon trip the father and son duo boxed 89 of the tasty fish. On Sunday, John Adametz and his son Spencer cashed in on the fast fishing action too, and they easily boxed 100 of the fine eating fish. Matter a fact, they came back to my home, and we cleaned them all under an hour. Now they will enjoy 200 boneless fillets to fry up and enjoy. Also, I finally got to Baton Rouge, LA and renewed my LA Guide Fishing Permit, and ready to take trips to the fish filled Louisiana marsh. These are great trips, are all day outings, and go for $550. In the new 2170 Blazer Bay it will make fishing the marsh quite enjoyable. Bottom line, the fish are biting, so let's fish. Regards, Capt. Robert L. April 18. Winds still blowing but the three Louisiana gentleman taking a break, while their wives were at a meeting, decided to take a chance. The results were great for a short 4 hour trip to the barrier island. They were all seasoned fisherman and knew what to do and how to do it, which makes it easy on the crew. Ended up with and very nice catch of large yellow mouths and a few other types of fish. All in all it was a very enjoyable day and the fish were left biting. April 4-6. Winds still blowing pretty good. Of course, hopes were of going to Chandeleur but conditions would not allow for the Snyder group this trip. So, we decided to hide in the marsh. They were a little hesitant about going there but once they got there and saw our lease and dock that we have in the middle of nowhere, moods quickly changed. We did catch a nice mess of trout deep inside but the main target were the red fish. Got our limit plus several catch and release. Turned out being a pretty good trip afterall. Looking forward to seeing you again in July Fritz. Hopefully the winds will lay down by then and will be able to fish Chandeleur.

March 31-April 2. Had David Light and friends with us on our second trip to Chandeleur this year. It was really tough fishing with 15-20 Knt. winds blowing the entire time, so we were limited to where we could fish. However, we did find trout over grass beds. Not too much on numbers, but good quality trout. Mostly 2-4 lbs. couple of 5 lb.ers. See you soon David!

March 28-30. Took the Fowler group to Chandeleur. Managed to find a few nice trout inside the island, seems they have moved out early this year. Will have to try fishing over the grass next trip. All n all, pretty good trip, great group of guys, had fun and caught fish.

Recently, when the wind allows we have been catching the southern kingfish a.k.a. "ground mullet" and sand sea trout a.k.a. :white trout" on the outer oyster reefs and rubble reefs in the Mississippi Sound. This bite should remain quite steady for the rest of the season, and as the Sound continues to warm expect more speckled trout, big gafftopsail catfish, and a variety of small sharks to visit the warming waters. Last Sunday we made a trip to the Louisiana marsh in my new 2170 Blazer Bay, and although it was another windy day, a nice catch of 5 bull reds, 12 speckled trout (14 to 19-inches) and a 10-pound black drum were l;ocated late in the day. Easterly winds had the water muddy looking, but our persistence paid off late. Will be running those Louisiana marsh trips next month once I drive over and renew my Louisiana guide license from last year. These waters are full of speckled trout and redfish, and when conditions are right they can lead to nonstop fish catching action. However, we need these windy condition to settle so we can get to the best fishing grounds, areas where we know the fish are waiting to get caught. PS: By the way, the new Blazer Bay rides like a dream, soft ride, fast, plenty of storage, and a great fishing machine. Remember...life is short...let's fish! Regards, Capt. Robert L. Offshore/Rig Fishing

Last Thursday, the 3rd, the weather finally gave us a break so we could get offshore with a family outing that was celebrating the fathers retirement. We headed south to some of the shallow reigs, less than 40 ft, and used freash shrimp and squid and ended up with some of the largest sheephead and black drum I have ever caught. This was all done on light tackle and the woman outfished the men 2 to 1. When we had enough of those we headed in to a reef inside the island and in a hours time we had over 35 nice white trout and a few Whiting (Ground Mullet). All in all it was a very nice day and one of those days when you really didn't want it to end. Regards, Tom Becker of the Skipper (228) 323-5835 C: (228) 385-2910 Home. Web Site: wwwlskiper4fish.com

Today was cold and windy. A stiff north wind had the Back Bay of Biloxi churning, and it was impossible to fish the oyster reefs loaded with white trout and ground mullet. However, my clients fished the Back Bay of Biloxi, and we managed to boat a few sheepshead and black drun. But the fish of the day was a 50-pound plus black drum that Justin Hatcher fought out of a moving boat for 1-hour and 35-minutes on 10-pound-test Yo-Zuri Hybrid line. That huge fish made the day, and on a blistery day like today we certainly needed the drama and excitement of that big fish. Until the winds settle, good fishing! Regards, Capt. Robert L. Today I had the pleasure to fish with Paul Manchester and family, mostly grandchildren, and what a day it was for this great group of people. Since the weather was so nice we made a run straight to the Bellefontaine Reef, and there the bite was hot. About 15 other boats were on the reef, and everyone was having a blast catching fish. My group put the hammer on them, and in an hour and a half period boxed most of the 185 southern kingfish a.k.a. "ground mullet" and sand sea trout a.k.a. "white trout", as well as one flounder. Hey, it doesn't get any better than that, and they ended up with 5 gallons of tasty fillets. These ground mullet are big and fat with roe, and the bite should be great all of next week with improving tides. Getting close to purchasing a new bay boat within a week or two, and will be fishing a in bit more style and comfort. I am booked Monday and Tuesday, and if the winds stay down hope to fish the reefs hard while this initial run is going strong. Good fishing! Regards, Capt. Robert L. This was a tough trip to scratch up some fish, but in the end a nice mess of fish were rounded up. Tainted water, stiff northeast wind, a full moon, and a poor tide range of .5 made for slow fishing. In the Back Bay of Biloxi, a nice black drum, 1 flounder, and 1 non legal redfish was all that could be enticed to bite. Then it was a run to the Ocean Springs Harbor Channel Reef, to the Gulf Park Estates Reef, to the Bellefontaine Reef, and then to the Secret Reef. In all, 40 nice southern kingfish a.k.a. "ground mullet" were boated by my clients Chris Lingler and Chris Franklin. These two young college men worked hard to catch a nice mess of fish, and were rewarded with 80 of those tasty ground mullet fillets. Yes, it was slow, but a nice sunny day despite all the conditions working against us. The Ocean Springs reef was raked early by the oyster boats, and that too may have had something to do with poor fishing on that particular reef. I am booked Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and it looks like some nice weather coming up. Until next report keep it safe on the water and good fishing!

No trip this weekend so I decided to make a late trip Sunday afternoon with a couple of old friends and look for a few fish. And fish we found, extremely close in considering the time of year and windy conditions, On the oyster reef outside the Ocean Springs Small Craft Harbor we boated 44 really nice white trout and ground mullet, a flounder, and Rob Langlanais caught a huge 23-inch sheepshead. Plenty of hardheads and stingrays were present, all good signs of warming waters. The water temperature was 66 degrees in that spot, and considering we got there late we enjoyed a good bite. I was suprised to see those fish there that early, generally I fish there later in the year. Anyway, it was a great afternoon, and the winds did die down a bit. If you need bait just run into the harbor and but it from Kenny Denero at the Ocean Springs Marine Mart. Great day on the water, and good fishing to all. Regards, Capt. Robert L. No sir, this one is south of the Ocean Springs Beach way to the east down off near the big water tower on shore. It's in approximately 7.5 feet of water. There is another reef west of it marked by a white PVC pipe and it's a killer spot too. These fish generally move to the west, and should be on the Keesler Reef by next week if the weather gets good. Fished the Louisiana marsh Wednesday (Door, Brush, Martin) with artificial...not live shrimp. Between the three of us we had 40+ specks from 13"-18", several Bull Reds that we released, one large black drum which we released, and even a ground mullet. The fish are back...thankfully...I was going insane.

Yeaterday was a great day to be fishing in South Mississippi. My clients travis Hartzell and Matt Zvonkovic had a wonderful outing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. In all, they caught 5 sheepshead, 1 freshwater catfish, and a black drum in the Back Bay of Biloxi, and when the winds died down we ran to the oyster bars in the open water of the Mississippi Sound. Once on the "Secret Reef", the duo caught big fat roe-laden ground mullet a.k.a. southern kingfish cast after cast. What a blast! After the guys boated 90 of these tasty fish, Matt hooked into a large line stripping fish, and 15-minutes later, a bull red in the 20-pound class was boated. What a way to end the day! Amazing! Another fun filled day in South Mississippi aboard TTEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. My clients will be heading back to Houston, TX with some tasty fillets, and happy fishing memories. So don't sit around waisting time, let's go catch some fish. After all, it's only going to get better here on the Golden Gulf Coast. Regards, Capt. Robert L. Inshore/Marsh Fishing

I have fished for a number of years the beautiful waters of the MS Gulf Coast. And I have never been more disappointed before in my life than the excursion on Silver Dollar II. I should have known we were in for a sorry day when the deck hand set up the light tackle. When the captain cut the engines two miles north of Ship Island that should have told me we were being ripped. Every time before on other charters, the captain always took us out 5 to 10 miles south of the Island. But now we are fishing on the other side. The captain said it was 18 feet deep. The seas were about two feet. The wind was light but it was cool. The captain made no conscious effort to find any big fish. A 4 hour trip and $815! Then we were told we must tip the deck hand 15%! I could have caught more and larger fish had we fished the Biloxi Back Bay. We caught 4 mullet. Not a one over 10 inches. I will never book a trip with this charter again. When I booked this trip I was assured that we would catch some big fish. I explained that we all would love to catch some red snapper if they are running. I was told the day we met the captain at the boat that the red snapper are not running but we may find some. NONE FOUND! Nor did we catch any BIG FISH. My recommendation would be to stay away from the Silver Dollar Fleet.

Inshore/Marsh Fishing

Saturay was an extremely cold and windy day on the water, but my clients Mike Lacy, his son Blake, and his friend Lance toughed it out and landed 6 really big sheepsheads,2 black drum, and a flounder. Mike has fished with me before on those days of white trout and ground mullet cast after cast, but on this cold and windy outing, it would take some patience and grit to boat a few fish. Water temps had fallen back into the low 50's, and more rain gave it the chocolate look once again. At first a few big fish were lost to structure, but the afternoon bite turned on at the end, and some 6 to 8-pound sheepsheads livened up the day. In all, these guys fished hard, never gave up, and managed to enjoy some light tackle fun late in the day. I am booked Wednesday, and if the winds calm some good gound mullet fishing should occur on the outer oyster reefs. Bottom line, good weather will lead to good fishing, and things are about to get really good in our inshore waters. Regards, Capt. Robert L. Yesterday was a magnificent day on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Calm seas and plenty of sunshine was a great way to enjoy a day of fishing in the Back Bay of Biloxi and in the Mississippi Sound. On this outing, John Noel, a comeback client was ready to start the year off fishing the coastal water once again. Leaving the D'Iberville Marina we fished the Keesler Reef, Katrina Reef, and Bellefontaine Reef before fishing a few spots in the Back Bay of Biloxi. Have to admit fishing was slow, but at the Bellefontaine Reef, a fine catch of 20 really nice ground mullet and 1 white trout provided John with some fine meat for the skillet. If we would have gotten there earlier we may have loaded up, but the weather was so nice catching a few fish on this day was just a bonus. It seems that the big run of ground mullet has started for us inshore fishermen, and from here on the fish catching should greatly increase. John also caught a nice flounder in the Back Bay of Biloxi, a tasty fish that fell for a dead shrimp fished on the bottom. Anglers are hammering ground mullet at Horn Island too, but any time these masses of fish will be coming into the Sound's shallows, and the white trout wil be right behind them. Bottom line, fishing is on an upswing, and the white trout and ground mullet will be fun fish catching excitement for all. By the way, water temps reached nearly 65 degrees at the Bellefontaine Reef, and plenty of sting rays, and one large hardhead catfish were landed, a good sign of great fishing to come. Good fishing! Today I had the extreme pleasure of taking Michael and Jill Wheeler of Arkansas on a fish catching adventure in the Back Bay of Biloxi. This trip was booked way in advance, a suprise trip set up by Jill for Michael before his deployment overseas to Iraq. Picking them up at the entrance of the Biloxi Grand Casino with boat in tow, Michael was totally suprised by Jill's carefull planning. Once on the water, around 9:30, our first stop at the old Back Bay of Biloxi fishing bridge delivered some really big sheepshead, and believe it or not a beautiful freshwater catfish. Yes, the bay is full of dingy brown-hue fresh water! After a nice catch of these hard fighters, and losing a few monster fish to the structure we moved to the mouth of the bay. At the old Ocean Springs fishing bridge, both anglers enjoyed a few more sheepshead, and a large ground mullet. However, a run of bigger black drum turned on near the channel's edge, and the couple proceeded to land some nice fish on 10-pound-test spinning tackle. A few huge specimens cut them off in structure, but they each caught a couple with Jill taking the largest pushing 20-pounds. Although we safely released all fish caught today, their catch made for great photo opportunities. After the run of drum, a stop back inside the bay produced more big sheepshead, and another nice freshwater catfish. These fish were not caught on a rising tide, and we left them biting. In all, a wonderful day on the bay with a great couple. Now, Michael gets to head off to Iraq with some great fishing memories while he's away from home for a year. We wish him a safe journey there and back, and that God watches over him ever step of the way. It's amazing the great fishing fun available right her in our back yard of south Mississippi. Until next report good fishing and keep it safe out there. Regards, Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. Yesterday, we fished from the Back Bay of Biloxi out to the Keesler Reef and back to the bay. Bottom line, most of the day we struggled to catch fish. My clients were Dana Baer, Arthur Priest, Melvin Baer, and Joseph Penner, all were down from Canada as volunters for Hurricane Katrina victims. Thanks you guys! To make a long story short, a stop back inside the Back Bay of Biloxi saved the day. Pushing 4 o'clock we anchored up near the old fishing bridge just west of the Imperial Palace Casion. With a rising tide rushing in, close to its peak, the bite turned on, and these four visitors from way up north enjoyed nonstop fish catching action for about an hour. Nice sheepshead and black drum were suddenly keeping the 7-foot St. Croix rods bowed, and a gorgeously colored 18-inch redfish was landed too. Now all anglers with some nice fish under their belt and great photo opts the day was salvaged. From a slow outing to hot fishing action at the end of the day it could not have been scripted better. However, just before time to head in, Joseph Penner of Ontario, Canada hooked up with a monster black drum on a 7-foot St. Croix "Triumph" spinning rod, Shimano Spheros 4000FA spinning reel spooled with 10-pound-test Yo-zuri Hybrid line, 25-pound-test Seaguar Fluorocarbon leader material, and a small 1/0 Gamakatsu Octopus Hook. Amazingly, Joseph landed the huge fish, 40-pounds plus, under 15-minutes. What an incredeble way to finish off the day. You can view pics of this fish at my photography portfolio at www.flickr.com under "teambrodiecharters' (all one word lower case letters). It seems the local waters once again brough great fishing memories to our our of town guests, in this case out of country guests, and that's always great business for south Mississippi. Got a few more trips on the books for this month, and hope to report with some fun outings. Still waiting for the big run on white trout and ground mullat to occur, and when it does some of the hottest light tackle right in our backyard waters will unfold. As I write this report a heavy rain is coming down, not good for bay fishing, but soon it will all get just right. Before long our local fishing will he delivering plenty of smiles and tasty fish fillets. Remenber: Life is short...let's fish! Regards, Capt. Robert L. Fished the Back Bay of Biloxi for a few hours today, and managed to land some fine black drum and sheepshead near the mouth of the bay. Water conditions are still extremely turbid, and it seems most fish are around the bridges, and scattered around the Katrina Reef. Also, watched a few anglers working the Katrina Reef with trolling motors while casting jigs toward the structue. Some nice specks were being caught that way. Fished the Katrina Reef and Keesler Reef for white trout and ground mullet, but no luck yet. However, I was there during a low and slack tide period. Water was right at 60 degrees. However, it was a beautiful day, and caught the fish we needed for making some Japanese Gyotaku fish prints. This is really neat, and will have an article about it next Sunday in The Sun Herald's "South Mississippi Ourdoors Weekly" section. Also, fished the Tchoutacabouffa River with Doug Carson yesterday afternoon, and we managed to boat 14 beautiful crappie, as well as a couple of bass and bluegills. Great fun, and Doug is a great crappie angler. Very skilled at catching these tasty fish. Look for an article on that as well next Sunday. Waiting eagerly for the white trout and ground mullet run to turn on in a few weeks, and will be looking forward to guiding anglers both young and old on this non stop fish catching fun. Let the games begin! Also, I'll be purchasing a big bay boat by early summer, and will be running speckled trout and redfish trips just like last summer to the Louisiana marsh. After such a beautiful day like today it's easy to get fired up for another fun filled year of great fishing here in south Mississippi. Hey, life is short...let's fish! Regards, Capt. Robert L. Absolutely...I hope they can reverse this. If I was going to target and keep 13 inch specks...I'd just go fishing for white trout. Why pass a law that just puts more pressure on an animal population that is already heavily pressured as it is one of the main gamefish in this area. The speck population in MS waters is already low. That is why we all have to go to LA waters to really catch them. Sure you might catch a few around here, but they are not nearly as plentiful. What a shame.

We support CCA in this matter CCA Sues CMR to Protect Speckled Trout Resource Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) has filed suit in Circuit Court of Harrison County, Second Judicial District, demanding that the action taken by the Commission on Marine Resources (CMR) on January 15, 2008, be set aside as violating Mississippi Code of 1972, as amended, Section 49-15-2. This Section states that “…(a) Conservation and management measures shall be based upon the best scientific information available;…” Mississippi coastal fishery laws are patterned after the federal Magnuson-Stevens Act and require decisions to be made based on the best scientific information available. The CMR rejected the only creditable science presented and therefore exceeded its authority. CCA contends that the CMR was arbitrary and capricious in not following the expert opinion of its own fisheries biologists on the staff of the Department of Marine Resources (DMR). DMR recommended that the minimum size limit on spotted seatrout (cynoscion nebulous) be retained at the present 14 inch minimum size regulation. No creditable scientific evidence was presented by a recognized authority that would rebut the recommendation. Public opinion presented at hearings in November 2007 in Harrison, Jackson, and Hancock Counties was overwhelmingly against a change in minimum size. CCA contends that this procedure was flawed from the initial origination on October 16, 2007, when the motion to have hearings to reduce the minimum size from 14 to 13 inches for spotted seatrout for both recreational and commercial anglers was added to the agenda on the day of the meeting. That motion passed on a 2-0 vote with two commissioners (including the recreational representative) absent. The CMR then changed the motion in its December 18, 2007, meeting to reduce the minimum size for recreational anglers in Harrison and Hancock Counties to 13 inches while leaving the minimum size at 14 inches in Jackson County. That motion passed 3-1. CCA Mississippi filed a Petition for Reconsideration on January 2, 2008, which was rejected by the CMR on a motion to reduce the minimum size across the coastal counties to 13 inches. That motion passed 3-1. The recreational representative voted against the motion and the chairman (environmental representative) abstained but later publicly expressed his dissent. CCA contends that procedural guidelines were not uniformly followed and that the vote of three commissioners places Mississippi’s valued spotted seatrout fishery at risk with no scientific justification.

Well Mississippi's duck season has come to an end, and I would like to thank everyone for their business. It was a good season, and practically doubled last years charters. We killed plenty of redheads, and I know 15 or more of our take will be proudly hanging on my clients walls courtesy of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. Now it's time to clean and stow the hunting gear, and get back to inshore light tackle fishing at "full speed ahead". Inshore fishing can be tough during these cold periods, but there is aways something to catch right here in our local waters. Until next time, thanks for the business, especially the comback clients from the previous season. Hey, keep it safe out there and respect your fellow hunters and fishermen. Regards, Capt. Robert L. Duck hunted the Mississippi Sound today and the redhead hunting was awsome. Our 4-man group bagged 8 of those crimson-headed beauties, and six of them were gorgeous drakes. My clients dropped some beautiful birds for the wall, and that was our mission. Mission accomplished! Back on a good redhead roll again, and I've got the same guys tomorrow. Have a number of duck hunting trips on the books, including some exciting layout boat trips. Shooting ducks out of a low-profile layboat is an amazing experience. Until next report keep it safe out there, and enjoy south Mississippi's great outdoors. Waterfowl Hunting

In the last week or so it's been rather busy on the hunting and fishing end, and then having to get all the article writing done for both newspaper and magazine deadlines has me running a little ragged. Took Randy Patrolia of Hattiesburg, MS a while back on a trophy hunt for redheads, and with 50 or so birds commiting into a big set up of decoys, well, he got his limit easily. Heck, he even allowed me to get in on the action. I like that! Also, took two gentlemen from Olive Branch, MS on a two day "cast and blast", and both Ray Hank and Dan Brown got their trophy redheads for mounts, and enjoyed some light tackle bay fishing for sheepshead and black drum. They had the thrill of battling some huge redfish, but the brutes eventually cut them off on bridge piling structure. Great light tackle action none the less, and all fish were safely released. The first day of those two trips I donated to The Foundation of Wildlife, Fisheries, & Parks through the Mississippi Outdoors magazine. Down the road I'll write an article about the adventure for Mississipp Outdoors too. On another charter, Dan Turrentine treated his grandsons Bryce and Luke Brockett of Ocean Springs, MS to a bay fishing trip, and they too enjoyed structure fishing in the Back Bay of Biloxi with the hard fighting sheepshead and black drum. Take a kid fishing...one of the greatest gifts a parent can give to their children. Hey, if you pound the water enough there is always fish to catch right here in our back yard. Some where in the mix of all that I made a buddy trip resulting in our 3-man limit of greater and lesser scaups, and a beautiful drake redhead. Have a number of duck hunting trips coming up again, so it's back to the Mississippi Sound for more waterfowl gunning. Can only hope the weather cooperates, if not, well, may have to break out the rods and reels. Until next report keep it safe out there, and always respect you fellow sportsman. Regards, Capt. Well, got home safe and sound from the recent trip on the Southern Way. Eight of us in total. We are a more discriminating crew than most, 5 of us are “regulars” on hunting and fishing trips together. We know the drill, and know what good, and poor, service is. This was an awesome trip.
